Αρχές και Ρόλος των Δικτύων
Η ΕΕ στοχεύει για μία κλιματικά ουδέτερη έως το 2050, δηλαδή μια οικονομία με καθαρές μηδενικές εκπομπές αερίων του θερμοκηπίου. Αυτός ο στόχος βρίσκεται στο επίκεντρο της Ευρωπαϊκής Πράσινης Συμφωνίας και στη δέσμευση της ΕΕ για παγκόσμια δράση για το κλίμα, στο πλαίσιο της Συμφωνίας του Παρισίου.
Η μετάβαση σε μια κλιματικά ουδέτερη κοινωνία είναι ταυτόχρονα μια επείγουσα πρόκληση και μια ευκαιρία να οικοδομηθεί ένα καλύτερο μέλλον για όλους. Όλοι οι οικονομικοί τομείς, από τον τομέα της ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας έως την βιομηχανία, τις μεταφορές, τα κτίρια, την γεωργία και την δασοκομία, θα συμβάλλουν τόσο στον μετριασμό όσο και στην προσαρμογή στην κλιματική αλλαγή.
Με την δημιουργία δικτύων Περιφερειών και Δήμων θα διευκολυνθεί η επίτευξη των κλιματικών στόχων και οι τοπικές κοινωνίες θα μπορέσουν να υιοθετήσουν κλιματικές πολιτικές δρώντας προληπτικά. Η συμμετοχή σε δίκτυα έχει αποδειχθεί από μελέτες ότι συμβάλει θετικά στη δράση για το κλίμα.
